The Fundamental theme of my work is the concept of memories. I have always been drawn to the exploration of memories, the nature of uncertainty and why they may become blurred and distorted over time. I am absorbed in why and how these images by simply being viewed can bring me back to that time and place.
The central focus with “Captured Memories” was capturing fond memories from my childhood. My most recent projects have been highly influenced from the passing away of my grandfather (Richard Myers: March 6, 2017). I set out to find a way of capturing these memories and to have the feeling of the world in the palm of my hand. To me the crystal ball gave me the sense of capturing these memories and being able to store them in my pocket.
I searched for a location to shoot and wandered to the park just down the street from my house. I have many memories of playing baseball and soccer. Memories of having picnics and running through the grass and memories of being together as a family.
